About Windjammers Sailing Club

Windjammers Sailing Club is an active association of racing and cruising sailors based in Milford, Connecticut. The club was formed in 1943, and has continued to support and grow the local sailing community since its
inception. Windjammer's nominal annual membership dues of $45 per year enable sailors of all ages and styles be active participants.

Windjammers manages the seasonal Thursday night sailboat racing series which takes place in the Milford Gulf on Long Island Sound, just outside the mouth of Milford Harbor. The Thursday night series is a great way to
sail with friends and family, and at the height of the season often has 40 to 50 boats participating. Windjammers also organizes and sponsors many of the weekend sailing regattas which take place off the shores of Milford. These regattas are scored by the PHRF handicap system, are sanctioned by the ECSA (Eastern Connecticut Sailing Assocation, and usually have enough participants to have several spinnaker classes based on handicap ratings. While the weekend regattas tend to attract the more serious racers, most weekend regattas also include a non-spinnaker cruising class. Windjammers also has an active group of cruising sailors, who organize weekend and longer cruises to various destinations in both Long Island and Block Island Sounds.

Additionally, Windjammers holds a number of social events from May through December. Windjammers Sailing Club does not own a facility, but works closely with local yacht clubs, boating clubs, and marinas to host
our post-regatta parties, summer cook-outs, annual awards dinner, and various other social events.
